The silent dream killer: procrastination

Procrastination is the automate killer of your dreams and goals. It's a strong force that has killed many people's dreams.

I onced had trouble getting things done and achieving what i was after. I had trouble crushing everything that was on my to do list. I had trouble completing my assignments on time. I had trouble working on the things that I knew I should be doing in order too get the results I wanted. I procrastinated often and it wasn't because of peer pressure or distraction barriers it was for the reason I can't explained myself.

Sometimes I just didn't feel motivated enough to do what I needed to be done and always blamed it on being lazy, little did  i know that I was one step away to failure if I kept procrastinating. It was confusing, frustrating and conflicting.

Now let's look at the stages of procrastinating that were my bestfriends

1.false insecurities

This isn't due for a while, let me relax for now. I will do it for next time.

2. Laziness

Maybe I should start ๐Ÿค”. ๐Ÿง Nah!

3. Excuses

Two minutes after starting with your work ๐Ÿ˜ด

Just taking a short break ๐Ÿ˜ฃ or I will just be on my phone for a while ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ’€

4. Denial

I still have time............

I will finish on the due date.......

The day before the due date I won't sleep......

5. Crisis

I will never procrastinate again.......

I will always do my work immediately after getting them........

I will work on my time management.....

6. REPEAT,REPEAT,REPEAT,REPEAT. Procastination takes over again

Five ways to kill procrastination before it kills your dreams and goals.

1. Schedule.  Don't assume you'll get to do things later when you have time. You will never have time unless you make time. And the only way to make that time is by scheduling it and please make a list or note it down.Avoid scheduling things  in your head

2. Be honest. Set goals that are realistic, goals that you can achieve. Don't overload yourself with goals that you can't achieve. Don't give yourself too many things to complete in a day, and don't assume you will get work done a lot quicker this time.

3. Get rid of distractions. If it's your phone, put it away where you can't see it. If it hurts is the people in your house, do your best and let them know that you are working. If possible get a quite place free from distractions e.g libraries.

4.take breaks!. This goes along with giving yourself the proper amount of time and breaking work into chunks. The longer you go without a break, the harder you'll find your work, no motivation, and the less you'll want to work on it. Set a timer and take that time to not work. I'm always surprised just how effective this is at getting me back on track.

5. Reward yourself.  After completing a task it is always good to show yourself appreciation. Whether it's a snack, watching TV, going out or something else. perk yourself when you get your scheduled task done. As for myself I always reward myself with tasty treats with the motive of " feed the body  that works"
